Baking With Kafka – Tom Gauld
5 October @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm| £4
Join us to celebrate the publication of multi-award-winning cartoonist Tom Gauld’s Baking With Kafka.
Tom will give a short presentation about the book and his practice in general, and take questions from the audience.
Collecting together one hundred and fifty riotous and laugh-out-loud one page works, Baking With Kafka asks the questions no one else dares ask about civilisation as we know it. From the key to the success of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Norse Mythology’ book tour to the explicit and forgotten contents of David Bowie’s non-fiction collection, possible alternative endings to Jane Austin’s Emma and bad jokes between Mr Marx and Mr Capitalist, this collection positions Gauld as a first-rate cartoonist, creating work infused with a deep understanding of both literary and cartoon history in his signature style.
Tickets cost £4 and can be bought here.
“Tom Gauld might just be the Edward Gorey of our time, channelling his wry humour and macabre aesthetic through exquisite black-and-white illustrations” MARIA POPOVA
“Each single-page piece is a clever, funny, slightly bonkers riff on a literary theme … Sublime” The Times
