Join us for the October edition of The White Review Poetry Salon – this month Katharine Kilalea and Khairani Barokka take the stage! Join us for an evening of readings and drinks!

Katharine Kilalea grew up in South Africa and moved to the UK to study for an M.A. in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Her debut poetry collection, One Eye’d Leigh (2009), was shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize for writers under 30. Her debut novel, OK, Mr Field was published in 2018.

Khairani Barokka is an Indonesian writer and artist in London, whose work has been presented extensively, in fifteen countries. She is a PhD by practice researcher in Goldsmiths’ Visual Cultures Department, and is currently Modern Poetry in Translation’s Inaugural Poet-In-Residence. Among Okka’s honours, she was an NYU Tisch Departmental Fellow and is a UNFPA Indonesian Young Leader Driving Social Change for arts practice and research. Okka is most recently co-editor of Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disabled Poets Write Back (Nine Arches), author-illustrator of Indigenous Species (Tilted Axis; Vietnamese translation published by AJAR Press), and author of debut poetry collection Rope (Nine Arches Press). Work is published in The New Inquiry, Poetry Review, Asymptote, The Rialto, Ambit, Magma,  and other journals, anthologies and art books. http://www.khairanibarokka.com/
