Wendy Doniger O‘Flaherty is the Mircea Eliade Professor of the History of Religions in the Divinity School of the University of Chicago, where she also teaches in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations, the Committee on Social Thought, and the College. Her books include Women, Androgynes, and Other Mythical Beasts and Tales of Sex and Violence, both published by the University of Chicago Press.
“The title promises a mental roller-coaster ride, and the text does not disappoint... O’Flaherty uses her encyclopedic command of the literature on dreams and illusions (both Eastern and Western) to take us on a dizzying spin through multiple levels of reality. A marvellous book recommended to students of religion and philosophy, to devotees of the metaphysical brainteasers offered by Douglas Hofstadter and Raymond Smullyan, or to any reader who enjoys a challenge."-Booklist
