She has a PhD in Writing exploring the composition of new butch literature. Their first poetry and essay collection \u003cem\u003eLast Night a Beef Jerk Saved My Life \u003c\/em\u003ewas published by Pilot Press in 2021. Mortimer was a Techne scholar in creative-critical writing at the University of Roehampton from 2018-2024 and their second book \u003cem\u003eSpeed Glum Hero\u003c\/em\u003e was published by Sticky Fingers in Autumn of 2024.
