Artist and critic Christian Egger's 'Shows, Signals, Unvernehmen' (Floating Opera Press) is a sharp, witty collection of interviews with the likes of Amelie von Wulffen, Jutta Koether, Lucy McKenzie & Beca Lipscombe among others, as well as reviews for art magazines such as Texte zur Kunst, Camera Austria, Springerin, SPIKE and ztscrpt.net. This exemplary collection not only offers an overview of the exhibition practice of contemporary art production, especially in Austria during this period, but also describes the critical reflection and an intensive examination of the different variants, tendencies and protagonists of the years 2005 - 2020.
On the occasion of this book presentation curator and writer Juliette Desorgues and the author will be discussing and reflecting about the varying roles, functions and expanding challenges of art criticism.
Born in Innsbruck, Christian Egger is an artist, musician and critic living in Vienna. Recent exhibitions include 'Display Was A Cat Sneaking Toward An Echo Chamber', 'Fwd: Disparate Threads! False Endings! (Schere & Kette)', and 'Thisness, Glass Glue, Thatness! (futura nostalgica utopica)'. He is a co-founder and editor of the artist magazine ztscrpt, and his writings have appeared in publication such as ArtReview, Camera Austria, Texte zur Kunst, SPIKE and springerin.

Juliette Desorgues is a curator and writer based in Paris. She was previously Curator at MOSTYN, Wales and Associate Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. She has also held curatorial positions at the Barbican Art Gallery, London and Generali Foundation, Vienna. She studied at the University of Edinburgh, the University of Vienna and University College London.
