Join us for the London launch of two poetry publications from Monitor Books: Jazmine Linklater’s Snagged on red thread and Fatema Abdoolcarim’s Tremble. Jazmine and Fatema will read and be joined by Mira Mattar.

Fatema Abdoolcarim is an Indian-Pakistani Hong Konger who makes art, films and writes. Her visual works and films have been shown internationally. In 2021 Fatema was awarded her PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester. Her project, After the Cut, intertwined personal narrative, history, and close looking into Islamic miniature paintings to reimagine representations of Muslim women, sexualities and pleasures. Fatema’s essays and poetry can be read in publications by Prototype (London), The Munch Museum (Oslo), The Brooklyn Rail, and in the anthology of feminist writing, Gestures: A body of work (Manchester University Press, 2025). She lives in the Baltic Sea, on the island of Bornholm.
Jazmine Linklater is a poet and writer based in Manchester where she is a regional editor for the online art writing platform Corridor8. She has published four poetry chapbooks, most recently Figure a Motion (Guillemot Press, 2020). From October 2025 she is undertaking practice-based research in art writing and ekphrastic encounters at Sheffield University.
Mira Mattar writes fiction, poetry and essays. She is the author of Yes, I Am A Destroyer, Affiliation, The Bow and And most of all I would miss the shadows of the tree’s own leaves cast upon its trunk by the orange streetlight in the sweet blue darks of spring. Mira lives and works in London.
